What permits do you need before you go?

Whether you go a long trek to Annapurna or short for compulsory you need to have Permitted. There is not allowed to enter from Birethathi if you don’t have your permits. You need to contact your guide or porter for your permits or you can ask to staff at Pokhara or Kathmandu.

Annapurna Conservation Permit  (ACAP): $20 per person

TIMS Trekkers Permit: $10 per person

In case of TIMS, if you join through any trekking agency then you will give $50 per person but if you go individual (without guide or porter) then you need to pay $35 per person.

If you are trekking individually then permits are available at:

  • Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Exhibition Road, Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu
  • Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Dam Side, Pokhara.

Best 3 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Drive to Naya Pool and Trek to Tikhe Dhunga

Altitude: 1480m

Distance: Pokhara-Naya Pool 42 Km / Naya Pool-Tikhe Dhunga 9 Km

Time: Pokhara-Naya Pool 1.5hrs / Naya Pool-Tikhe Dhunga 3-4 hours

After having breakfast take a bus or Private Jeep heading to Naya Pool. You can find a bus or private jeep from Baglung bus park and leaves every 30 to 60 minutes. After reaching to Naya Pool you will hike 3-4 hours hike to Tikhe Dhunga. You will spend a night at Tikhe Dhunga.

In the morning, you can fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and can drive to Nayapool if you don’t have enough time.

Day 02: Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani

Altitude: Tikhe Dhunga 1,480m / Ghorepani 2,840m

Distance: 13 km

Time: 7-8 hours

In the morning, you will hike to Ghorepani by climbing 3000+ stairs. You can observe the Rhododendron forest at the end of February to March. You can see everywhere full of Rhododendron. However, in other times there is no such place to observe except the lifestyle of local people. This day is the hardest day among all.

Day 03: Ghorepani to Poon Hill, return and on to Naya Pool

Altitude: Ghorepani 2,840m/ Poon Hill 3,210m

Distance: Ghorepani-Tikhe Dhunga 13 km, Tikhe Dhunga-Naya Pool 9 km, Naya Pool-Pokhara 42 km

Time: Ghorepani-Tikhe Dhunga-Naya Pool 8-9 hours. But if you want to save your 1 hour then you can drive from Jeep and again 1.5 hours to Pokhara

Early in the morning, after getting up you can observe amazing sunrise from Poon Hill. After then, you will back to the hotel and have breakfast and start your hiking back to Pokhara. You will walk approximately 8-9 hours to Naya Pool. But if you want to take a jeep from Tikhe Dhunga to Naya Pool then you can save your 1 hour time. And from Naya Pool, you will come back to Pokhara.
