Observing Annapurna Mountain to the east, Dhaulagiri Mountain to the west, and Tibet to the north, observing the sunrise over the Himalayas from the top of Poon Hill really feels amazing. Aside from the mountains, you can observe the beautiful landscapes, forests full of greenery, and color in the spring season.

What Permits you need to have before your trek?

For having a trek in this region, you need to have two necessary permits:

  • Annapurna Conservation Permit (ACAP) – $20 per person.
  • TIMS Trekkers Permit- $10 per person. (If you go through any trekking agency then they will charge $40 but if you are going individual then they will charge $35 per person.

Two necessary permits can be applied from:

  • Kathmandu: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Exhibition Road, Bhrikuti Mandap.
  • Pokhara: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Dam Side.

4 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Itinerary

Here are the four days suggested itinerary to Ghorepani PoonHill Trek:

Day 01: Pokhara to Nayapul (vehicle), Nayapul to Tikhe Dhunga(trek)

Altitude:  1,480m

Distance: 43 Km

Time:   1.5 hours drive to Nayapul and 3-4 hours hike to Tikhe Dhunga.

You’re at Pokhara enjoying the beauties of Pokhara. Observing the local lifestyle of Nepali People in Pokhara, enjoying the restaurant or club the night before.

After having breakfast, take a bus or Jeep from Baglung Buspark to Nayapul. After that, you will hike almost 3-4 hours to reach Tikhe Dhunga. There are lots of things to explore in Tikhe Dhunga during your Hike or at the afternoon. Overnight at Tikhe Dhunga.

Day 02: Tikhe Dhunga to Ghorepani(trek)

Altitude: 2,840m

Distance: 13 km

Time:  7-8 hours

After breakfast at Morning, you will set up a hike to 7-8 hours to reach Ghorepani. Passing through high hills, Rhododendron forests, several local settlements, including Tikhe Dhunga(1480m), Ulleri(1960m), Banthanti(2160m). Mainly this area is inhabited by the Magar community. Almost all people in this area are Magar.  You will hike 3000+ stairs up in Ulleri. Overnight you will spend very comfortably at Ghorepani Teahouse.

Day 03: Sunrise over Poonhill and trek to Ghandruk

Altitude:  3,210m (at Poonhill)  2012m at Ghandruk

Time: 5-6 Hrs

Early in the morning, you will hike 1 hour to reach Poon Hill. After watching the spectacular view of Sunrise from Poon Hill, you will hike nearly 1 hour to reach Ghorepani. After coming from PoonHill you will have your breakfast and trek to Ghorepani for 7-8 hours along with the forests, small streams, and so on. Passing through descending hundreds of stones you will reach to Ghandruk. Overnight here.

Day 04 Trek down to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara

Altitude: 2012m at Ghandruk

Time: 4-5 hrs Ghandruk to Nayapul by hiking.  1.5 hours drive from Nayapul to Pokhara

This is the last day of your trek passing through colorful forests(Spring) you will go back to Naya Pool and you can take a local bus or Private Jeep back to Pokhara.

Tonight, you will enjoy the night at restaurants, bars, and hotels enjoying live music or simply relaxing at a restaurant peacefully near Lake.
