Gosaikunda lake trek is a short hiking destination from Kathmandu to explore the settlement of Tamang people along with 108 fresh alpine lakes. Gosaikunda is popular for Hindus and Buddhists as the home of gods Shiva and Gauri.

Gosaikunda lake lies in Langtang National park with an elevation of 4380m. The water in this lake is very natural and fresh. The water of this lake melts from the Trishuli River. This lake stays in the Rasuwa District of Nepal. Gosaikunda trek is an adorable destination.

There are 108 lakes in this location, smaller to larger ones. All hikers can view Manaslu, Tibetan peaks, Langtang Lirung, and Ganesh Himal even lakes such as Saraswati Kunda, Gosaikunda, and Bhairab Kunda.

Both Hindus and Buddhists who give more importance to this lake. According to Hindu mythology, Gosikunda means the home of gods Shiva and Gauri. People have a belief that Lord Shiva formed this lake.

Trek to Gosainkunda lake offers views of pine forests, oak, and rhododendron forests. Gosaikunda starts from Dhunche Village. Many hikers opt Laurebinayak because this place offers sunset even sunrise of Ganesh Himal and Lantang.

Every year, during Janai Purnima in the month Bhadra (August full moon day). Thousands of Shiva God devotes come to his place and worship Him. People have a belief that once a person takes a bath then pain, sorrows even pass away.

Gosaikunda Trek is very easy, after hours of a ride from Kathmandu city to Sundarijal. The trekking beings from this place even this place is very famous for recreation, and picnic spot for the local people. The waterfall makes the day very joyful.

 Gosaikunda lake Trek Weather in a different season

The weather stays unpredictable and climate could change every minute. Keeping warm clothes, gloves, water bottles, raincoats, and medicine. Spring and Autumn are the popular seasons for hiking to Gosaikunda lake. The weather remains very stable and moderate.

 March, April, and May (Spring)

Spring is the best one. Many trekkers who prefer this season. You could see beautiful views like red and white rhododendron.

The temperature lies between 18-30 degrees Celsius. It becomes hot for walking.

 Summer (June, August, and July)

Even Summar is also good for trekking this area. The rain falls make the route very muddy and uncomfortable. The temperature stays between 22-30 degrees celsius. However, Douche becomes dry.

During the non-rainy days, the average max. the temperature remains between 22-30 degrees Celsius. And, the average min. temperature lies between 17-21 degrees Celsius.

 Autumn (September, November, and November)

Autumn is the best season for Gosaikunda Trek.

The temperature remains 20-28 degrees celsius. During this time, you could enjoy walking since the trial stays warm.

Winter (January, December, and February)

Up to Mid-December, all hikers could trek for Gosaikunda. The snowfalls begin during this time and the route becomes very muddy and slippery yet you could do trekking. The temperature stays between 18-22 degrees in the winter.

 Permission for Gosaikunda trek

You need to have a Langtang National park permits and TIMS Cards to hike for Gosaikunda.

Trekkers could take these permits either at the Nepal Tourism Board office or at Dhunche. Foreign citizens have to pay USD 30 and the SAARC nationals cost USD $15.
